The Innovation Investment Round is a competitive funding programme seeking genuinely novel approaches with the potential to contribute to a step-change towards low-emissions pastoral farming.
In partnership with the Ag Emissions Centre we’re offering up to NZ $2 million to accelerate research and development into practical tools that can reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in pasture-based farming systems.
This round is focused on three key challenge areas:
New approaches to reducing nitrous oxide emissions
New approaches to measuring nitrous oxide processes
Novel approaches to reducing methane and/or nitrous oxide emissions from grazing ruminants
Innovation is the primary assessment criterion for this round. The solution does not need to be proven. High-risk, high-reward ideas are encouraged where there is a strong scientific rationale and potential for significant impact.
The round is open to applicants worldwide, with proposals encouraged from researchers, innovators and organisations that can demonstrate a pathway to application in New Zealand’s pasture-based farming systems.
