Design a Value Chain Co-Funding and Co-Claiming Model for Agricultural Emissions Reduction in New Zealand.
As more methane and nitrous oxide emissions reduction tools move closer to market, feedback from farmers, our investors, technology developers and other stakeholders across the sector has consistently highlighted the need for credible mechanisms that recognise and reward on-farm adoption.
New technologies only reduce emissions if they are adopted on farm. Creating value for farmers is critical to accelerating uptake at scale.
To help address this challenge, we are seeking proposals to design a value-chain co-funding and co-claiming model that demonstrates how New Zealand farmers can be rewarded for adopting emissions reduction solutions by sharing benefits and costs across the value chain.
Similar approaches are emerging internationally, including in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia. This work will explore the opportunity to develop a model tailored to New Zealand's agricultural sector.
We welcome proposals from organisations with expertise in market design, agricultural economics, value-chain incentives, sustainability programmes and related fields.
