The two-day meeting sought farmer feedback into using genetics, probiotics, inhibitors and vaccines as emissions reduction tools.
Our Farmer Focus Group is made up of 12 farmers from diverse backgrounds who provide us with their views and feedback regarding implementation of emissions mitigation tools across the different livestock systems in New Zealand.
The group meets in-person twice a year, with our last meeting being held in Christchurch in May.
This time, we met in Palmerston North and had a range of our portfolio companies present, either in-person or virtually, including ArkeaBio, Lucidome Bio, Nbryo, Hoofprint Biome Inc., BiomEdit, Bovotica and Agteria Biotech.
We also heard more about the science from the Ag Emissions Centre and got to visit AgResearch's inhibitors lab and methane measuring facility and BioLumic to see its low-emissions ryegrass firsthand.
The direct feedback loop between the farmers and the companies developing the tools was extremely valuable. A big thank you to the farmers for your valued input: Cameron Black, Laura Morrison, Emma Crutchley, Athol New, Philip Sherwood, Stuart Taylor, Kelly Heckler, Andrew Wiffen.
